Salvage controls
How do I collect parts?
Start a shift, then drag the magnetic tool over alloy or opened salvage. Hold in the work area to charge a pulse, then release to open circuit cases and energy-cell locks. Orange armor bars show a stronger lock; use another pulse or a longer charge. Dock when you want to finish the shift and keep what you collected.
Why is the shift timer not moving?
The first alloy job and pulse lesson are untimed, so you can learn at your own pace. During normal shifts, the battery starts draining after your first gesture. Pausing or leaving the app freezes an active shift. Return and choose Resume to continue. Closing the process does not preserve an unfinished shift's remaining timer.
Contracts and progression
How do I restore the station?
Collect the displayed resources, dock, and open Work Orders. Choose the restoration action to spend those parts and bring the next station system online. The five restorations unlock the lights, receiver, heater, garden and beacon. Each restoration also awards a permanent perk choice.
What are upgrades and crew commissions?
Use earned credits in Tools to improve magnetic reach, shift duration and pulse power. Crew commissions use the same parts as restorations and award more credits, so delivering resources can delay your next restoration. Lifetime salvage ranks introduce refined, armored and pristine finds.
What happens after the fifth contract?
You can continue free salvage and crew commissions. This version has one five-contract chapter; there is no additional story chapter after the beacon. All progress is earned through play, with no ads or in-app purchases.
Why can't I choose another free boost?
Each station restoration earns one free, permanent boost choice, for five choices across the chapter. After all five are selected, ACTIVE means that a chosen boost still applies. MAX means that boost has reached its three-level cap; NOT CHOSEN means none of the five choices went to that boost. You can still buy available Tools upgrades with credits. Salvage ranks advance through recovered parts and reach the final rank at 180; ranks do not award extra boost choices.
What should I do after restoring the station?
Open Work Orders to see your tools, chosen boosts, salvage rank and crew deliveries. Keep collecting parts to reach remaining ranks, spend credits on available tool upgrades, or deliver spare parts to crews. This chapter contains five restorations; there is no additional story contract after the beacon.
Saves and settings
Where is my progress saved?
Progress and settings are saved on your device. Orbit Salvage has no game account or developer-operated cloud save. Android may separately back up or transfer app data according to your device and account settings, but we cannot promise recovery or cross-device sync. Keep your existing installation and data while troubleshooting.
How do I change sound or haptics?
Open the pause menu to change sound and haptic feedback. The menu also includes Privacy & support. Opening an external help page does not automatically resume gameplay.
How do I reduce movement and effects?
In version 1.3.6 or later, open Pause and set Reduced Effects to ON. This reduces decorative movement and particle bursts around the station, drone and salvage. Charge cues, pulse reach and opened salvage remain visible. It does not change collection, rewards or progression. The choice is saved on this device, and you can switch it OFF in the same menu. Sound and haptics have separate controls. Reduced Effects does not remove every visual effect.
How do I reset the game?
Android Settings → Apps → Orbit Salvage → Storage → Clear data or Clear storage removes the current device’s game progress and settings. This may be irreversible. System backup copies are managed separately and may restore on a later installation. Read the deletion and backup details before resetting.
